Monday- Friday: Periods 1, 2, 6 & 7; I hope that everyone turned-in the evaluation of your energy transfers and transformation machines today as tomorrow they will be worth less points. For homework today you may be researching images to use in your cells analogy project as we have started a new unit in which you will need to compare the organelles of a plant or animal cell to some other theme. All week we will be investigating the jobs the organelles perform for the cells. Today we should have started creating a jigsaw on the topic in class using your own device (not a phone to create) to research and create a slide for each organelle. By Friday, we should be covering cell theory. We will start reviewing, Q to A in class this week. The next benchmark test will be during the week of the 22nd.
Periods 3, 4, & 5: Monday- Friday; You asked for it, so be ready to create an energy machine. Tonight you may need to complete the analysis of a Rube Goldberg machine by identifying the energies within each step. Tomorrow you will design your own that will end with a chemical transformation and a sound energy transformation.
On Thursday, you will also be starting to understand the energies transferred and transformed in tsunamis by following Dr. Vasily Titov. He is the lead scientist for NOAA in tsunami research and detection. We are going to use his technique to pinpoint the location of a simulated tsunami through our egg drop investigation. Get your rest because this is Big! Thank you to Bradley and those who have volunteered to bring in a dozen eggs. We need about 3 dozen more next week. I know that I can count on you all to be safe and considerate of others as we do these labs. We will also do an extensive article comparison for a report that you will write. Don't worry, it will be interesting and I will help you be successful.
